Wow – look at these verses as clarified by the Oxford Annotated Bible, 5th ed. And again, Robert Alter’s Hebrew Bible.
Once more, some of the world’s foremost experts on the Bible and ancient manuscripts correct the traditional translation (angels), which favors Latter-day Saint theology.
What do you see?
Psalms 8:3-6
3 When I look at our heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;
4 What are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?
5 Yet you have made them a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet.
Psalms 8:3-6 (Oxford Annotated Bible, 5th ed.)

The Hebrew Bible
(Written as poetry)
When I see Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
—the moon and the starts you fixed firm,
What is man that You should note him,
—and the human creature, that You pay him heed,
and You make him little less than the gods,
—with glory and grandeur you crown him?
You make him ruler over the work of Your hands.
—All things You set under his feet.
Psalms 8:3-6 (The Hebrew Bible – 2019)
(In his notes, Robert Alter says it’s possible the word is “God” singular because of its similarity to other uses of that same Hebrew iteration.)
I am filled with gratitude for the truths of our Gospel.
